Zeum: San Francisco's Children's Museum Announces 2nd Annual Camp Zeum Film Festival

San Francisco, CA —July 1, 2009 - Zeum: San Francisco's Children's Museum, announces its second annual Camp Zeum Film Festival, which will be held in Zeum's 200-seat theater on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The film festival will showcase youth media projects made during the five weeks of summer camp at Zeum.

At Camp Zeum, under the guidance of Zeum's educators and professional artists, participants (ages 6-13) learn to use various interactive media tools to explore multimedia art, technology, and filmmaking. Zeum provides an empowering environment where youth are given the creative inspiration to be the next criticallyacclaimed filmmakers, rock stars, animators, and digital artists.

"The Camp Zeum Film Festival is a wonderful showcase of the creativity and talent of our young participants," said Audrey Yamamoto, Executive Director at Zeum. "The festival is also a concrete example of what's possible when kids are given the tools and freedom to be creative, collaborate with peers and share their stories — an experience that is far too rare during the course of the school year."

More than 20 short films will be featured in the festival, alongside music videos, puppet performances, and stop-motion animation. All features and shorts will be eligible for Z-Awards which are presented in the several categories, including character animation, scriptwriting, music video, set design, and more.

Admission to the Camp Zeum Film Festival is free. After the event, attendees of the festival will also be admitted to Zeum: San Francisco's Children's Museum free of charge.
